We all have favorite books. What's your next favorite?

My favorite is Harper Lee's "To Kill A Mockingbird"
Me second is Anya Seton's "Katherine"

My favorite book is "Swallows and Amazons" (Arthur Ransome).

My second favorite (other than nearly all of the other S&A books by Ransome), is Jules Verne's "Mysterious Island."

I don't think I can identify any one favorite book, but the entire Lord of the Rings three-volume novel is right up there. Trite, but so it goes.

I can't come up with one next favorite. The echelon below contains about a hundred books that are the "reread for comfort" list. Some of the authors that appear there are Robert Heinlein, Jane Austen, Pamela Dean, and Janet Kagan.

Oh yes seconded! Lord of the Rings is definitely my top book!

As for second, I'd say Payne's The White Pony or Lehmann's Beowulf if I'm allowed to slide in poetry books. Otherwise, its a toss up between Tea with the Black Dragon,Good Omens, and The Alienist

I don't know that one, and it's out of print. I'll look around for it.

Oh, I do love Swordspoint. Have you read The Privilege of the Sword? I might like it as much.

I like Moore a lot, and have Island of the Sequinned Love Nun on my 'to read' list. He strikes the right irreverence in my sense of humor.

Yay! Useful discussion!
