I read a lot of fic, and while some of it is like light in the dark good, some of it is very bad. I was sharing my incredulity with jenna_thorn and it went like this:

That’s a bardic skill, you know, in D&D. You grab your lute and play long involved songs with wildly flattering lines and an engrossing plot while the assassin slips in and plants a Morganti dagger in the dragon’s back. 8-) But if you roll a critical fail, everybody dies and your eulogy is posted on the Rotten Tomatoes website.
