In the last cold snap (I can call it that since it's +21 now), the doorknob snapped off the front door. An ice damn formed on the side door (slider) restricting how far it could be opened, and if you got it a quarter of an inch further open, it wouldn't close. I snapped the cord for the fabric blinds.

So far, the doorknob has been replaced. I'm melting the ice damn with a hair dryer. Menards doesn't have the blinds cord. I also got my eyebrows torn out and picked up the cleaning.

What are you all doing?

Working on fixing my file-server, I think I'm about half-way to the latest solution plan.

The lock broke in our front door; not sure it was cold-related, since it sticks some regardless of temperature and people in a hurry tend to force it rather than pushing or pulling the door into a position where the lock will turn easily. That'll be fixed Monday, according to plan.

No other cold-related repairs I'm aware of, everything did okay.

I just went with davidschroth to West Bloomington pick up a used dresser for the downstairs bedroom. The woman who gave the dimensions appears not to have included the legs in her height measurement, but it fit in the Matrix once David got the baby seat unhooked -- which involved blood, alas. Now arkuat will have a closet and a dresser. Just not a living room, for a while at least.

I want to get to the Minn-stf meeting, but that's not going to happen until the floor guys are done for the day.

Haven't had any ice-related damage, AFAIK, other than the problems with the DVR.
